Back in October, Marc A’s alma mater welcomed Jawed Karim to speak to students. Jawed, a co-founder of YouTube presented this overview of how YouTube went viral. It is clear that UI and UX are intrinsically linked to the successful adoption of YouTube and that relationship architecture was a, if not the critical factor.

The UI that the YouTubers designed presented video in an easy to understand format…click to play. Want more?… click related video. Want to share?… click to email. Want it on your site?… copy and paste. Want to upload? Want to download? Chad was designing actions that were almost as compact as gestures and these “near” gestures were defining the audience UX.

These seems so obvious now, I wonder if seemed so obvious then?

The biggest boast to YouTube, I think, was the result of MySpace people posting embedded video in their pages and sharing fun stuff with their friends, this also was in parallel with bloggers who had things to say about the video.

::: Thimk ! :::

If the UI faciliates gestures of attention within a relationship architecture a UX is produced. But are we in a unique transitional period where this experience is unique and therefore more compelling?
